Phoenix Art Museum and the Arizona Republic Name Second Annual Group of “Ripe” Award Winners to Lead Culinary Scene in 2015/16
Chefs Scott Holmes, Lori Hashimoto, Cullen Campbell, Stephen Jones and Jeff Kraus have been named to receive the prestigious Ripe award from the Phoenix Art Museum and the Men’s Arts Council. Ross Simon joins the group as the winner for the first-ever Ripe award for the bartending and spirits industry.
Tickets are on sale for the Ripe culinary fest and awards presentation event scheduled for July 25th at the Phoenix Art Museum to raise funds to support the arts.
This year, the public was invited to submit nominations which were reviewed by judges from the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Art Museum and Men’s Arts Council.
Winners exhibit the very best of the greater Phoenix dining scene through their culinary creativity and passion. These stand out chefs are anticipated to open new restaurants and culinary projects -- or continue to earn recognition for existing projects. Past winners cannot be considered.

For the first time in the three-year history of the award, this year’s nominations were open to the public. Phoenix residents nominated chefs, bartenders and spirit makers they believe capture the essence of Phoenix.
Every year, Phoenix Art Museum names the top five Copper State chefs who are making waves in their respective kitchens. The public is invited to nominate and vote for their favorite fork-fillers and mixologists.
The chefs chosen by a committee of food-obsessed Arizonans are then awarded at a benefit in July. The proceeds from this event are returned to arts education provided by the Phoenix Art Museum.
